In 2013, Cortez produced 1.338 billion ounces of water, which is a 48 percent drop as it gradually moves into underground mines. The Cortez gold mine exists at the Nevada Lander and in Eureka County. Open-pit and underground mining facilities are located about 75 miles southwest of Elco. The entire complex includes the Cortes Mountain underground deposit, as well as the pipeline and south pipeline open deposit. The Cortez mine is owned by Barrick Gold, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
